“I love early spring; everything’s alive and growing. I think the clothes reflect that,” Stella McCartney said of her Resort 2011 collection presented last week in New York. The show attended by her friends Gwyneth Paltrow,Naomi Watts and Kate Hudson, was a botanical print dream come true.
Precision cut (her signature) suits in shades of pink, nude, blue and black was balanced out with the appearance of lace dresses and shorts.A pretty grey lace shift dress with delicate frills at the waist makes a perfect dress for a summer party. The main attraction was undoubtedly the bold botanical prints that were splashed onto tulip-shaped skirts, peacoats and shorts. And a quick appearance of an assymetric black affair, with a floor length train was anything but pretty in the traditional sense.
Yatsentyuk & Mykytyukcollection, with twisted scarves with chains. Very exaggerated bell sleeves and jacquard flower prints and drop crotch trousers which look beautiful. Autumn/Winter10 from Eastern Europe!
Malva-Florea: Autumn/Winter10 collection. Futuristic shapes were carefully puncuated with red poppies and colours were simple with grey, crimson and metalic silver. The stand out piece for me was the grey jumpsuit with long ankle cuffs and crimson red embroidered details.
Ituen Basi’s collection spring/summer 10, was a fusion of Ankara fabric in Western styles. Contrasting colours of dark orange-yellow, maroon red, olive green, cerulean blue and crimson pink were styled together as two piece sets. The collection included full skirts, pencil skirts, box jackets, shorts and maxi dresses. The traditional iro was westernised to a shorter length worn alone as a dress or with pencil of full skirts to create a narrow waist and fuller hips silhouette.
